Curriculum
Distinctives

Using Christian curriculum is not only unique, but it instills and reinforces values that are life-changing and impact the entire school culture.

  • Stories of the Old and New Testaments in the lower grades lead up to the profound truths of the Gospels, Epistles, and other portions of Scripture in the upper grades. Students will become thoroughly acquainted with the basic portions of Scriptures and its wonderful life-changing truths.

  • BCA is one of the only school's in the Imperial Valley that teaches & requires cursive to be used in writing. Phonics, reading, cursive, poetry, penmanship, creative writing, vocabulary and spelling are thoroughly taught and exercised by students on a daily basis.

Because thought and language form the foundation of learning and communication, teaching grammar, spelling, vocabulary, composition, and literature is vitally important.

  • Unlike the "modern math" theorists, who believe that mathematics is a creation of man and thus arbitrary and relative, BCA teaches that the laws of math are a creation of God and thus absolute. Man's task is to search out and make use of the laws of the universe, both scientifically and mathematically.

  • While secular science textbooks present modern science as the opposite of faith, BCA teaches that modern science is actually the product of Western man's return to the Scriptures after the Protestant Reformation, leading to his desire to understand and subdue the earth, which he saw as the orderly, law-abiding creation of the God of the Bible.

  • Twice a year we hold a community play revolving on important Christian holidays: Christmas and Easter.

Students are required to participate and may be called to learn many important roles which include: music, acting, drama, dancing and other theatrics.

  • Physical education encourages discovery, building confidence, developing motor skills, and adopting a healthy and nutritious diet. We teach children that our bodies are a gift from God and therefore are to be responsible to keep it healthy and working properly.

Curriculum

Kindergarten - 8th Grade curriculum: Abeka Book.

Millions of students have used Abeka since it started in 1972, and over 250,000 used Abeka in 2017 alone. Students taught with Abeka have competed in the Olympics, been accepted into prestigious colleges, and gone on to serve the Lord in demanding careers. Brawley Christian Academy has been using Abeka with tremendous success since the early 90's. Abeka is a traditional curriculum that keeps learning fun, consistent, and challenging - the way it's supposed to be!

uniforms

As believers, it is our Biblical responsibility to conduct ourselves in word and deed (including dress) in a manner that glorifies God and incorporates spiritual growth and school unity. We, therefore, require all students to wear uniforms during regular school days and maintain an appearance which conforms to that outlined in the BCA Student Handbook.

School uniforms are sold by 2 different uniform providers, Kaz Bro’s Shop and Home Grown Apparel. They are located next to each other just north of the Brawley Post Office.

You may download our school uniform catalog to browse the available uni- forms for purchase.
